Let's Try Again

Well different name on the application but I think it is the same proposal.  Century House up for grabs again. Not one or two but four proposed houses.  Talk about greed.  Four bedrooms as well, which sounds alright on paper but you probably can't swing a cat round in any of them.  There are already a few letters in against the development, there ought to be a few more.  On a bend as well so not good traffic wise.  I can't believe someone would think that the plot is large enough for four new dwellings.

It's been tarted up a bit since this was done but there is not that much room at the back.

A Bit Quiet At The Moment

Apart from the pillage at the Co-op recently, nothing seems to be happening of any consequence.  We were lucky it seems, nothing was taken as a resident heard the noise and they left in a hurry without the prize. Naturally they left an almighty mess which the Co-op will not be too happy about and probably the cash machines owner.   Perhaps a flood of dye onto the money might be a consideration when the machine is opened violently in future.

Moving on, despite the fact that the money must be now in the bank, we residents have still not heard of the intentions of the custodians/trustees of the Misterton Community Trust, although according to the Charity Commission's website -

"THE TRUSTEES WILL COMPOSE OF A MAXIMUM OF EIGHT MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY"

Since one of their number is not of our community I would suggest they rectify that as soon as possible.  It would be nice to have an indication of what they intend to do with the money other than let it sit rusting in a bank and earning zilch.  Something useful perhaps, maybe they might like to ask us.  Do they have minutes of meetings, where are they published, transparency and all.  Sitting on backsides and talking gets ideas no where.  One thing we don't want is a fancy statue, garden or plaque.  Get on with it please.

Keeping it in the village

Well I don't know their exact name but I do know who has got the council  yard and they live in the village, so looks like it will be a business.  Somebody mentioned ink jet cartridges but you know what Chinese whispering  is like, could be jet fuel.  Apparently they are currently rent on the West Stockwith Business Park so I suppose it shouldn't be difficult to track down who is moving out.

Democracy Rules the Day

Can't beat it can you  really, which is why so many people are trying to get into this country.  We don't like them, we get rid of them, no messing.  Well it has been confirmed, the next General Election will also include further elections for the District Council and Parish Council elections.  The intention is to save money and in future have a complete change every 4 years instead of in bits and dribbles, which cost money each time.

Well all I hope is we don't get all that silliness and malice that happened last time.  We have a District Councillor we can be proud of, she's not affiliated to any other party so she can say what she likes without toeing the party line and she does do the job.  Better still she lives in the village so when we want to whinge face to face, we can.

As far as the parish council elections are concerned, I just hope we have as many participants as last time, younger the better and all that live or work in Misterton.  If you live outside the  boundaries of our village then join your own parish council, not ours.  From what I've heard the current 'outsider' is of little use so I hope he doesn't even bother to try and join again.

So stand by your beds and get your voting finger ready.
