Rumours

I don't know whether it is common knowledge yet but I've heard the Misterton Social Club is in trouble.  Resignations of key figures, only one director left, that is not good, someone left holding the baby and taking the flack.  There are few social places in the village with the amenities and space this building has, not to mention the car park, in the village.

It was a good place for the village gala, will that have to find a new home?  Hopefully not and things will work out.  Trouble is even with ale prices lower than elsewhere, you still have to get people out but with most people short of brass, it's easier to drink in and avoid the pain of a drink driving charge. 

Food is what draws a lot of people to the pubs now, good cheapish food and you are onto a winner, and I'm speaking as someone who only goes to a pub now when a meal is involved.

I joined for £1, maybe that should be more.  Even non profit making organisations need a sound financial base to work on.  From memory a lot of County Council money went into the venture, would be a shame for that to be lost because that would be our loss as  well.
