Interesting

Someone obviously wants to keep me up to date with the goings on in Misterton.  I had an email this morning about a meeting that took place last night.

Apparently a large number of parish council members (but not all) and others, were seen going into the home of another council member on Hillsyde Avenue.  What for, no idea really, but it seems very odd.  I have heard of these little meetings before where it was thought they carved up what they were going to do at the next PC meeting so they were all singing from the same hymn sheet, to the detriment of those outside the group.  Very undemocratic.

  1. It could have been the Parish Council's majority group and its friends, or the group known as Friends of the Victoria Institute. Same people really. 'Friends' have recently wasted £10k of the County Council's money on a survey to tell them what they already knew, and they may be looking at throwing some more public money at a failed building.

Whoever it was, the Parish Council is in a bad way. The majority group control things. Anything they want on the agenda goes on it. But it's different for those outside the majority group. The Clerk recently refused to include an agenda item requested by a member outside the group, even though it related to the same thing as an agenda item previously raised by someone in the majority group. I can't imagine how the Clerk would do such a thing of her own volition. No point complaining about the Clerk, as the majority group would support her. No point complaining about the member(s) behind it, as the answer would be - "Don't blame us, it was the Clerk's decision entirely." Nice!

And what about Quality Council accreditation? The current administration decided not to renew the accreditation achieved by the former administration, and then paid for the new Clerk to take the Quality examination. Having passed the examination, there's no attempt by the Parish Council to comply with the Quality criteria, so the whole thing's a dead duck - more public money wasted. What's going on?
