Co-op Corner prior to changes |
I have to say I have mixed feelings about this. Great that the old bank building is gone but I do miss the nice grassed down piece, which suited our village perfectly. Yes, it wanted a face lift now that more space was available but what we got was not suitable for a village like ours, not to mention the extortionate cost. Also for some reason we were never asked what we wanted. They ask us about the Victoria Institute and want to know our views on the War Memorial, but when it came to Co-op corner, they just went ahead and spent. Anyway water under the Jubilee Garden bridge now.
Got a picture of the new garden, then send it to me.
I saw it the other week having been away from the village for a while. I wasn't impressed. The plants looked like they were dying and bizarrely they all still had their nursery labels on. You'd have thought if they'd spent 20 grand on it that the gardener could have at least taken the labels off of the trees and shrubs. Who is going to water them? Is anyone doing this? Never mind the reported outlay for this, what is the total cost of ownership of this garden? Has anyone worked out how much this garden will cost to maintain?
ReplyDeleteThe issue for me is that it looks like the kind of thing you'd find in a city centre precinct. Totally out of place for an attractive village nestling in rolling countryside. The photo demonstrates the fact that it was previously a very nice green area in the village centre.

Misterton village looks right mess at the moment. Nothing like it did when it won the best kept village award. Take a look at the Newell's factory site. Now it,s totally open for anyone to wander into. When the school holidays get here what a wonderful dangerous place for the children to play in.The parish council were told about this weeks ago but it,s still totally open. The previous council never let this happen.
ReplyDeleteWhen it rains a lot the Church corner floods, has done for month,s'Do they care?
Look at the state of the gate to the sports field, its falling to bits at the bottom hinge area, infact it has completely rusted through. This was reported weeks ago, would have thought that the expert welder on the PC would have had this sorted.
Quite a few hedges also growing over pathways which limits access.
