Wow

Well this is a bit different to what I expected, certainly would have been worth keeping as cash in the attic:

Now we'll have to sit and wait to see what happens.  It would be nice if a business got it, might mean more jobs in the village.

Auction Date

Well looks like the auction is still going ahead for the old council depot so it should be interesting to see what kind of use is going to be made of the ground.

Personally I think it is a bit of an own goal selling a useful area of the village and once its gone its gone. For the amount of money they will get for it, all that would have been saved on transport costs if they got their logistics right and stopped letting bean counters  rule the roost.  If I managed to find the key to my own piggy bank I'd buy it myself, that's how useful I think that corner is.

Lets hope the jungle drums are banging early so we find out who shelled out sooner rather than later.

Incidentally if you fancy a bit extra cash 4 weeks a year, how about this:

Would you be interested in providing
Reception Cover at the Misterton Centre
31 High Street
For approximately 4 weeks per year (18 hours per week)?
£7.65 per hour Living Wage
Full training Given
Interested?
Please contact Angela Harrison, clerk to the council on 01427 891659or theclerk@misterotn-notts-pc.gov.uk

What happened to the parish councillors filling in and doing the job as in the past? Bit more cash they had no need to waste.  Still it will fill in a CV for someone.  I think they are looking for a handyman as well if you are interested.

Incidentally, this was copied and pasted from the parish council website so don't try using the email address to contact the clerk because there is a spelling mistake in it.

No Electricity!

Well I suppose you have had your letter, the Solar Farm project has hit a major problem, they can't find a socket to plug it all into and the project has fallen at the first panel.  Perhaps someone close by can lend them an extension cord.  Still, shame to waste all those solar panels, they could be distributed round the village, I'm sure we have plenty of  south facing roofs that would benefit from a bit of free power.

I was never a fan of these panels occupying agricultural land but given the amount of warehouse roof space available in the country, I'm surprised more use has not been made of them.  The ones I'm particularly fond of are those on the office block round the corner from Morrisons, or rather in  front of the office, the ones that swivel round to follow the sun and when there is no sun the panels all  stare upwards to get every bit of light available.

Ah well, that's one thing less to worry us.  Next will be the planning idea for near the school.  Got nothing against new houses but with our poor sewage and drainage problems, which would affect the rest of us, not a good idea.  If the houses on the old Newells site get built and other bits, that would mean over 300 new houses in the village.  Exactly how would that work when you want to see a doctor in a practice that already provides a service for other villages in the area.  About time some legislation was applied to 'professional' locums who appear to be only in it for the money.

Its all Dog Muck

Well what can I say, although it's gone on for years, the dogs not picking up their crap after it has been deposited around the village.  Then when they do pick it up it's thrown into the nearest hedge or garden.  Name and shame now going to be the in thing for 2015.  Funny though, when you go by and see a dog in action, you automatically look at who is holding the lead to see if they are perched and ready to scoop up.  With all this publicity a lot more of us will be taking an interest.

While we are at it, a fancy new website for the parish council is fine, if it works, but I don't like to see this when I click on a pdf for the January agenda of the parish council meeting:

Why on earth doesn't someone test the link.  Doesn't look good or very professional when most of us haven't got  time to make a special journey to the notice board (assuming of course it is on, you never know nowadays).  Even worse is the fact that half the time it doesn't appear until the actual meeting is over.  I hope they don't all get a big bonus for poor service.  Can't be that hard to keep a website up to date.  Maybe they ought employ a 10 year old.

Just a thought but if we get up to our goolies in snow this year, where exactly is the snow plough going to come from since we no longer have a council depot on site in the village.  Suppose we'll be last on the list for the far corner of Bassetlaw.  Then when they come they only do what they have to, leaving the fire station and school route still covered in ice or snow.

Now that might be a useful item to buy with all this cash floating around from various sources, a snow plough and gritting machine to hook onto a tractor.  Got plenty of them round the village.

All Over For Another Year

Well if you are like me you consider the last few weeks have gone by faster than Jack Shit.  Anyway, a New Year to go at so what do we have in store for us?

Well I suppose first on the agenda is the "Public Consultation Exhibition for the Proposed Solar PV Farm".  That's on the 22 January at Walkeringham Village Hall between 3 and 7pm.  Whether you are interested is another matter.  What niggles me is that all this takes up agricultural land but then that's my view.

Then there's that other little little snippet that appear on the Planning List - Screening Opinion for Residential Development.  Sort of getting your ducks in a row before you fire.  I'm not against new houses in the village, it's just a question of our ancient infrastructure that won't support large scale development.  Of course they are all very good at papering over the cracks and presenting a perfect picture with a few goodies thrown in.

The old Newell Dunford site still remains a barren mess with the proposed housing still on the drawing board, presumably because they know if it gets built they wont sell.  Let's face it, if they try and sneak those town houses in like they did on the Walkeringham side of the village I suspect war will be declared.

So I suppose when you take this into account, more houses near the school is a bit superfluous in the current climate, not to mention the fact that this is also agricultural land and once it's gone it's gone.

I understand there has been plenty of action around the old council depot with views so sounds like it will go to auction on the 29th January.  It will be interesting to see what it will be used for.

Got my wires crossed on the new young council member, his name is Alex Myers along with boss Wayne.  Nice to get some different faces  and views.

Finally those bloody tea leaves are at it again, numerous burglaries in the village and some in the day time I understand. To be hoped they never get caught in action.
