Well I glimpsed a sign when I passed by on Station Street yesterday, but couldn't see exactly where it was situated, old library or Victoria Institute. However, I did pass again today and it is at the old library with a Savilles sign. Seems a bit odd really given that it has only just gone up. Does this mean the parish council have lost their bid? What does intrigue me is exactly what was for sale, the old library, scout hut and the field beyond? Now you can see developers rubbing their hands on that package, which means that the parish council's bid wouldn't stand a cat in hell's chance in winning without Notts County Council practically giving it away.
What really annoys me is the total lack of transparency on this proposed purchase. Given the full facts instead of being behind closed doors with sparse details being shown in the minutes, shouldn't we have been given chance to decide for ourselves what was to happen. Which just goes to show how little they are in touch with what is important to the village.
Regrettably there is still no for sale sign on the Victoria Institute, another institution with trustees running it as a secret society.
